A truly wonderful way to keep your child busy as well as bring a positive influence to their life is to encourage them to do charity events such as helping with hosting a bake sale or running/jogging for a cause. There are so many organizations and children can learn at an early age that they can make difference.
My son recently ran two local "fun runs" for charity and he did so well. It was a bonus that he came in 2nd in one of the races but at the end of the day the event was wonderful and he felt good about himself for doing it.
To find a list of local runs in your area, check out active.com.
Also, there is a wonderful organization that encourages children to have a Cupcake Sale in their local neighborhood to benefit children in Africa. Here is the link. Children can help make the cupcakes, decorate posters, spread the word and help sell them of course!
